PREVENTABLE DISEASES

HMSWA is committed to the well-being and health of vulnerable groups. Thalassemia is a genetic disease in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin. The disorder is deadly and people with poverty and lack of information have lost the lives of their loved ones.

The health need of the children is a regular blood transfusion along with iron chelation and consultation of a Hematologist for investigations on monthly basis. The poor families are deprived to meet these health needs, which results in decreased life expectancy and quality of life for those fighting deadly diseases. We support efforts to increase quality health care and ensure universal health coverage; making health needs to be free of cost.

To support children with neglected backgrounds and less privileged who cannot afford treatment of the disease. HMSWA has been collaborating with organizations working on this noble cause. It has organized several blood donation camps to support Thalassemia Centers. The camps were organized by HMSWA district offices through their local membership and volunteer support.
